We have scientists, of course, at the forefront of their fields. We also have a wide variety of other professionals and support personnel working together to advance Earth system research, education, and technology development.
Our staff is nearly 1,400 strong — from pilots to software engineers, human resource specialists to machinists, shuttle bus drivers to project managers, administrators, and more. Our people share a deep commitment to our mission of science in service to society and to assuring UCAR and NSF NCAR facilities and services are top notch.
Our staff members also come from diverse backgrounds, and we strive to create the kind of inclusive, supportive, and welcoming workplace that will attract and retain an even greater diversity of individuals in the future. Diversity and inclusion are a top priority for UCAR because we recognize that a staff with a broad range of backgrounds, experiences, values, and ideas is better equipped to tackle pressing scientific problems today and tomorrow.
