Jose M. Laginha M. Palma, CEsA, Research Centre for Wind Energy and Atmospheric Flows,
FEUP, Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto, Porto Portugal.

Wind flow predictions over forested and deforested complex terrain for wind energy
    applications.

A series of examples will be shown of the results of using computational fluid dynamics,
based on either RANS or LES turbulence modeling, to evaluate the wind energy resource in
mountainous and forested regions. The use of embedding this methodology in weather
forecast models to produce daily wind power forecasts also will be discussed.

EOL Atrium, Thursday December 14 at 11am.
