Topic: CMMI -- Overhead Monster or Process Mastery?

In 1991 the SEI published the CMM for Software (SW-CMM). Since that time, more than 30,000 people have been trained in the SW-CMM, and more than 2,400 organizations have been assessed. In 2000, the CMM Integration (CMMI®) was introduced. With both models, organizations have reported measured improvements in product quality, shortened schedules, and lower total costs. Today some organizations continue to wrestle with questions about the appropriateness and fit of software improvement models in their organizations.

The presentation and discussion on January 11 will overview the CMMI and explore options for tailoring the implementation of the model to align with the unique needs of the organization. The material will likely eliminate some doubts about the CMMI and potentially raise new ones. In either case, those who attend will have better information on which to base their opinions.

    Please join us.

This seminar is open to UCAR software engineers and all other interested parties. The SEA seminar format opens with a half-hour opportunity to socialize with your colleagues over refreshments, followed by the scheduled presentation at 3:30 pm.
