Predicting the Earth System: Research in this area
seeks to extend our understanding of the various components
of the Earth system; atmosphere, oceans, land and biosphere,
ice and the hydrological and biogeochemical cycles,
to an extent that allows for predictions of weather
on small to global scales, seasonal to decadal climate,
extreme events and the influence of various forcing
processes. Much of this research centers on developing
numerical models of climate, weather processes, upper-atmosphere
