This presentation looks 25 years into the future. It is an optimistic look into what the weather services of 2025 will be. I illustrate several concepts with recently produced video images of real and model data. By 2025, I predict that it will be impossible to distinguish between these two types of data.
In 1971, about as far back in time as I am looking forward in this talk, I produced a movie showing the propagation of spiral bands in a simple three-layer hurricane model. I did this by printing out model output every 15 minutes and photographing each printout with a movie camera.
