Postdoctoral Research Associates in Ocean Modeling and Data Assimilation

The Department of Earth & Planetary Sciences, Johns Hopkins University, invites applications for one, or more, postdoctoral research associates. The successful candidate(s) will join a team that is developing and applying ocean circulation/sea ice models and data assimilation to the Atlantic, Arctic, and Southern Oceans. The position will involve collaboration with: Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, the Department of Applied Mathematics & Statistics, the Applied Physics Laboratory, and/or the Center for Environmental and Applied Fluid Mechanics at Johns Hopkins. An ideal candidate will be a creative independent thinker with a Ph.D. in dynamical oceanography, but applicants in related fields will also be closely considered. Knowledge in the following areas is advantageous: Atlantic ocean circulation, numerical general circulation models, data assimilation, geophysical fluid dynamics, and physical oceanography. The start date is negotiable, but completion of the Ph.D. is required. The appointment(s) will last up to three years. Appointees will receive a competitive salary and benefits, and eligibility to participate in Johns Hopkins University health plans.
