Barbara Thompson is a space scientist at NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center, working with the Solar and Heliospheric Observatory (SOHO) and the SERTS Rocket Program. After receiving her undergraduate degree from the University of Pennsylvania, Dr. Thompson earned her Ph.D. from the University of Minnesota. Dr. Thompson's research interests include the structure of the inner corona and the extension of solar phenomena to geospace. Her current research relies heavily on two instruments on SOHO. She has participated in and coordinated a number of observing campaigns, both within SOHO and including other spacecraft and ground-based observatories.
