Roger Pielke Jr. is a scientist in the Environmental and Societal Impacts Group at the National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR) in Boulder, Colorado. He is an Affiliate Professor with the University of Colorado's Department of Political Science, as well as an adjunct scientist with the University of Illinois's Illinois State Water Survey. He also is a member of the Academic Advisory Board of the Center for Science, Policy and Outcomes at Columbia University. Pielke is the author of Hurricanes: Their Nature and Impacts on Society, and co-editor of "Storms," a volume in the series of Natural Hazards and Disasters Major Works.
