ASP launches Graduate Student Visitor Program
NCAR's Advanced Study Program is pleased to announce the establishment of its new Graduate Student Visitor Program. The program is designed to provide NCAR staff opportunities to bring graduate students to NCAR for 3 to 12-month collaborative visits with the endorsement of their thesis advisors and in pursuit of their thesis research.

These visits have the goal of enhancing NCAR partnerships with other public and private institutions. The visits must be initiated and applied for by NCAR staff, but university graduate students and their advisors may initiate collaborations with NCAR staff and encourage those staff to apply on their behalf.

Application deadline: 1 March 2006

SOARS application deadline is 1 February
Managed by UCAR, Significant Opportunities in Atmospheric Research and Science (SOARS) offers summer research internships to undergraduates interested in exploring a career in the atmospheric or related sciences. Applicants should be U.S. citizens or permanent residents who have completed the equivalent of two years of college with a 3.0 cumulative GPA. An online application form can be accessed at the URL below.

SOARS encourages applicants who

  • are members of a group that is historically underrepresented in the atmospheric and related sciences;
  • have experienced, and worked to overcome, educational or economic disadvantage;
  • and/or have personal or family circumstances that may complicate their continued progress in research careers.

Application deadline: 1 February
