Media Advisory: Reporters Invited to Digital Library Annual Conference

November 15, 2005

BOULDER—Reporters are invited to attend the annual conference of the National Science Digital Library (NSDL) at Denver's Westin Tabor Center hotel from Wednesday, November 16 to Friday, November 18. The NSDL is operated by the Office of Programs at the University Corporation for Atmospheric Research in Boulder.

Of particular interest are poster sessions that will highlight the latest advances in digital library technologies. Such technologies help primary and secondary school teachers, as well as undergraduate instructors, develop innovative classroom resources. Those sessions will be held from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday and from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Thursday in the Continental Ballroom. Posters will also be on view throughout the day on Thursday. Poster abstracts can be viewed here.

Funded by the National Science Foundation, the NSDL provides free online access to educational resources from public and private institutions, including universities, museums, commercial publishers, government agencies, and professional societies. It supports teaching and learning for all levels, from preschoolers through adults, with materials ranging from journal articles and lesson plans to interactive animations, real-time data sets, and ask-an-expert services.
