InterLibrary Loan

Obtaining materials not held by NCAR

To obtain books, journals and other materials not held by the NCAR Library, use the Interlibrary Loan Form to describe each item you need. It will send a formatted email request to ncarill@ucar.edu. Be sure to specify the date by which you need requested materials.

Printed forms for requesting interlibrary loans also are available at each library facility. For urgent interlibrary loan needs or for other questions, please call Judy Litsey (jlitsey@ucar.edu) at ext. 1177. If Judy is not available, call Leslie Forehand (forehand@ucar.edu) at ext. 8505.

Journal articles and similar documents will likely arrive on your desktop as PDF files. Books will be borrowed from other libraries and sent to you via interoffice mail. If you have special delivery instructions, please specify them when ordering.

Please return your interlibrary loan books on time. Thank you.

Copyright Notice

If you have requested copies, please read the "fair use" notice, below, and check that you agree.

The copyright law of the United States (Title 17, U.S. Code) governs the making of photocopies of copyrighted material. Under certain conditions specified in the law, librarians and archivists are authorized to furnish a photocopy or other repreduction. One of these conditions is that the photocopy is not to be "used for any purpose other than private study, scholarship or research." If a user later uses a reproduction in excess of this "fair use," that user may be liable for copyright infringement. The library reserves the right to refuse a copying order if, in its judgement, fulfillment of the order would violate copyright laws.
