Membership Committee Report

Subject: 2006 Membership Committee Report

The Membership Committee conducted its business over email this past year. The committee considered five Membership and one Affiliate renewal applications. One application for Membership was received from the University of Stony Brook, SUNY; a visit to Stony Brook campus took place on 8 June. One Affiliate renewal institution, Clark Atlanta University, has decided to table its application for renewal for one year, taking that time to renew their association with UCAR. In addition, the Air Force Institute of Technology decided not to renew its Affiliate membership because their meteorology program was discontinued in Dayton.

We recommend approval for all institutions whose applications we reviewed. The Members will vote on the new and renewal applications for UCAR Membership at the Annual Meeting. No vote is taken on the Academic Affiliate renewals; the Membership Committee approval completes their renewal process.

I want to thank the members of the committee for reading the applications and writing the reports—Rong Fu, Matt Hitchman, Jim Miller, Roger Pielke Sr., David Smith, Bob Talbot, and Don Wuebbles. Special thanks to Rong Fu and Jim Miller (along with Jack Fellows) for taking the time to visit the University of Stony Brook.
