This year's Annual Members' Meeting is organized
around building deeper collaborations between the
universities and UCAR through a set of tours and an Open House
poster session during the first day of the meeting. There will
be ample opportunity to interact with the scientific and technical
staff of all of the participating programs.
Tours of the following programs and facilities will be
conducted on Tuesday morning, 4 October: the Atmospheric
Chemistry Division (ACD), the Visualization Lab, UOP Demos,
and the new chemistry building (FL0). We are trying to schedule
these so you can participate in one or two tours and also
participate in the FL0 tour.
We ask that you sign up for the tours so we can know how
many of you want to participate, and therefore how to structure
the final schedule.
****Please register by 16 September****
The times listed below are tentative. We will be back in
touch with you when the plans are more concrete.
We hope to see you there!

10:00-10:45 am
Meet in the lobby of the Mesa Lab. |
Atmospheric
Chemistry Division (ACD) - Mesa Lab
ACD laboratory tours at the Mesa Lab will include an
opportunity to observe real time aerosol measurements
used in studies of aerosol-climate interactions and aerosol
growth and chemical evolution. Also included will be
state-of-the-art NO/Noy, HO2/RO2, biogenic emissions
systems, and laboratory kinetics instruments used in
studies of photochemistry and ozone production that are
required to assess the impact of chemistry on atmospheric
composition, air quality, and climate.

|
10:00 – 10:30 am
Meet on the Mezzanine near the Main Seminar Room at
the Mesa Lab.
|
Visualization
Lab in the Scientific Computing Division (SCD) -
Mesa Lab
The visit to the Vislab will include a demonstration
of climate and weather visualizations. Animations of
data produced by turbulence, fire, climate, ocean, sea-ice,
and weather simulations will be shown in 3D on a high
resolution display.

11:15 - 12:15 pm
To be held in the COMET Classroom located off the lobby
at Foothills Laboratory, Building 2. | UOP Demos COMETClassroom FL2
- Foothills Lab
Come see a range of UOP demo and facilities. The demos
will be geared toward things that you can use in the
classroom, including a range of awarding winning COMET
weather and climate distance learning modules; data and
visualization tools from Unidata; digital library demos
by DLESE and NSDL; how to use GLOBE schools and data
in projects; how you can use COSMIC radio occultation
data in modeling, research, and education, and others.

11:45– 12:15 pm
The new building is located a short stone’s throw
to the northwest of Foothills Laboratory, Building 2. Meet
at the front entrance. |
FL0
tour - Foothills Lab
A tour of the new Chemistry Building is planned. While
the building will not be completely finished, we will
tour several of the finished floors. |
