Arthur Few
(Rice University), Chairman of the UCAR Membership
Committee
SUBJ:
2003 Membership
Committee Report
We are pleased to report on the Membership
Committee's activities since the last annual Meeting of
the Members. During this 2003 Membership cycle, the committee
considered 8 Membership renewal applications, 5 Academic
Affiliate renewals, and two applications for new Membership.
Subsets of the Membership Committee conducted site visits
to the Columbia University and University of California
at Berkeley as is customary for new applications.
We recommend renewal for all institutions
reviewed, and nominate the University of California at Berkeley
and Columbia University to UCAR Membership. The Members
will vote on the UCAR Member renewals and the new Member
applicants at the Annual Meeting. No vote is taken on the
Academic Affiliate renewals—the Membership Committee approval
completes their renewal procedure. The reports from the
committee are linked below.
I want to thank the members of the committee
for all of the work involved in reading the applications
and writing the reports: Tony Brazel (Arizona State University),
Charles Lin (McGill University), Gudrun Magnusdottir (Univerisity
of California at Irvine), Terry Nathan (UC-Davis) and Bob
Talbot (University of New Hampshire).
Also, please note the Member and Affiliate
renewals for the upcoming 2003 cycle. I look forward to
talking with you at the meeting. In the meantime, if you
have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact me.
