The University Relations
Committee met on 13 October 1999 in Boulder, CO and on 25 April 2000 at
Millersville University of Pennsylvania in Millersville, PA.
The URC Subcommittee
on Non-Core Funded Proposals convened by conference call both in September
1999 and April 2000 to review NCAR and UOP proposals submitted to NSF,
to determine if the guidelines were being met. For Members’ information
the guidelines
followed by NCAR scientists in preparing their proposals are provided
in this report. The full report of non-NSF funded NCAR programs will be
available in hard copy at the meeting.
Copies of the minutes
of the October and
April meetings
are also provided in this report. Please note that the April minutes are
still in draft form. The following issues and activities were covered
this past year by the Committee.
- Discussion on
the URC Subcommittee's review of non-core proposals
- Reports from the
URC liaisons to NCAR divisions briefing the committee on recent activities
on the following divisions: ASP, HAO, MMM and SCD
- Examination of
the status of instrumentation development at universities.
- Overview of NSF's
and NCAR's FY00 budget and FY01 budget request
- Report on UCAR's
2001 advocacy priorities
- Discussion of
plans for October 2000 Members' Meeting
- Discussion on
how to increase community involvement in NCAR's programs and activities
- Update on National
Research Council's rating of university science departments
