Dear UCAR community,

It’s time once again to ask for nominations for UCAR Trustees, and the Members’ advisory, membership, and nominating committees.

Below you will find the form to use to send us your nominations. It provides links to information about each committee, its requirements and commitments.

As always, we ask your help in producing balanced slates representative of the broad community that makes up the atmospheric and related sciences.  This year, because we are losing key Trustees in the areas of science policy and financial management, and representing the science-related private sector, we ask you to include names of strong candidates in these areas.

The Nominating Committee will meet in mid- June to consider your nominations and to put together the slates for election at the Fall 2009 meeting in Boulder.

2009 NOMINATION FORM FOR UCAR BOARD OF TRUSTEES
AND MEMBERS' COMMITTEES

Deadline for Nominations is 01 June 2009

This form provides space for you to nominate your colleagues for UCAR Trustee and for Member Committee positions for election at the 2009 Annual UCAR Members Meeting in October.

• Write your suggestions for nominees below and click the submit button.
• Please add the nominee’s university affiliation and professional website address.
• You can add names as often as you like.

BOARD OF TRUSTEES

Institutional Trustees:
At the October 2009 Annual Meeting, there will there will be four, three-year term vacancies to be filled.  Trustees Efi Foufoula-Georgiou and Anne Thompson are completing their first 3-year terms and are eligible to be nominated again.

Institutional Trustees Rosina Bierbaum and Steve Rutledge will have served for two  consecutive terms, and are thus unable to stand for re-election.

Candidates for Institutional Trustees must be from Member institutions, but need not be a Member's Representative. The UCAR Bylaws do not permit two or more Institutional Trustees from the same institution to serve on the Board concurrently. A current list of Trustees can be found here.

Trustees-at-Large:
Trustees-at-Large Barbara Feiner and Frank Nutter are completing their 2nd full terms and are therefore unable to run again.  Candidates for Trustee-at-Large may not be Member’s Representatives but may be from Member institutions, as well as from any other institution in the private or public sectors.

Institutional Trustees:
In addition to nominees who have strong scientific research and/or administrative or management backgrounds (such as deans, vice presidents for research, and university presidents), this year we would be interested in receiving your nominations of those who have strong experience in science policy, financial management, or in the science-related private sector.

Trustee-at-Large:
Candidates for Trustee-at-Large may not be Member’s Representatives but may be from Member institutions, as well as from any other institution in the private or public sectors.

MEMBERS’ COMMITTEES

Members' committees participate in several important aspects of UCAR's program including, for example, advising the President on matters of interest to the consortium, fostering good relationships with the universities, reviewing new and renewal membership and affiliate applications, participating in the NSF Reviews of NCAR, and determining the slate for trustee and committee elections. In order to assure continuity in committee activities from one year to the next, proposed slates normally include one or more of the present committee members.
