Friends of UCAR is now in its 11th year!
Since 1996, contributors to Friends of UCAR have helped to enhance interest in and understanding of the atmospheric and related sciences for thousands of students, teachers, families, and members of the public. Educational programs, web sites, exhibits, and events supported by Friends reach diverse audiences and span the fascinating breadth of UCAR, NCAR, and UOP research — from predicting weather to modeling climate and understanding the impacts of severe weather and global change on society and the environment.
In 2007-2008, Friends of UCAR will continue to be a fund for science education, welcoming donations that will support such valuable efforts as:
- Super Science Saturday 2008, bringing fantastic and fun hands-on science experiences to over 4,000 children and family members at the Mesa Lab.
- Installation of I.M. Pei’s original architectural model on the exhibit floor as a first step in developing a more extensive exhibition about how the building’s design integrates science, environment, and art.
- Climate education resources and kits for community outreach and teacher training in the local community.
Contributions to Friends of UCAR are tax exempt under UCAR’s non-profit IRS designation.
