Face it, deep down everyone knows how to forecast the weather, it's just a matter of proving it. Now's your chance to show how well you can do against the nation's "best" in a fun national contest. Penn State University is once again hosting the annual National Collegiate Weather Forecasting Contest (NCWFC). Over 1000 students and faculty from universities around the country complete for individual and team awards, predicting daily min/max/precip for 13 cities in two-week cycles. UCAR has participated many times over the years, and this year we're looking for as many team members as possible, to show who's on top of the prognostic mountain (and have a lot of fun at the same time). The contest runs from mid-Sept through mid-April, Mon-Thu, with a break during the holidays. Participants need not forecast for all cities, and time commitment is mimimal, just a few minutes a day. No experience is necessary, novices are welcome (and often do quite well). Although forecasts are made individually, group discussions are encouraged and forecasting support will be available. Check the (developing) Web Page and sign up now.
For more information, contact Craig Hartsough at 1335,
craigh@ucar.edu.

Please help the Wellness Advisory Committee (WAC) choose the best wellness seminars!!! The WAC wants to offer more "lunch-and-learn" wellness seminars, and we want your help in deciding which ones to offer. We want to know which seminars you would be interested in attending, so we can offer those that are most appealing to employees and thus increase participation. Wellness seminars are offered to UCAR free-of-charge by CIGNA's Employee Assistance Program (EAP), and are available to all employees and their family members. Please click on the link below to participate in the survey. This survey can also be accessed from the WAC website.
