On November 1st, 2003 Boulder Travel switched their online booking tool from ResAssist to Travelport. Reservations made utilizing this tool incur a $15 service fee instead of the $30 fee charged when booking with an agent. There is still room in the training session being offered on November 14th, 1pm-3pm in the CTTC. This is an update on the construction required for the installation of two diesel generators at Mesa Lab. The north-south sidewalk south of the Cooling Tower entrance will be closed beginning this week. Signs will be posted. Also, construction in the main hallway of level 2B will be intermittent. Signs will also be posted during those times when construction is taking place. We appreciate everyone's cooperation with this construction project.

A new collaborative space for Windows file sharing is now available on the CIT's U drive. The Collaboration folder may be used by any group with interdivisional membership. If you chair or lead a committee or group that could benefit from this, please see your system administrator for assistance.

The Center Green 1 front desk will be closing effective 4:30 pm November 14, 2003 until further notice. This action is a cost saving effort caused by deferred plans to relocate personnel to this building. This change will most affect staff in CG 1,2,3,4 and their visitors. CG1 will become a card access only building. UCAR staff will continue to have access. CG1 metting rooms will continue to be available through the room reservation system. Provisions must be made through Conference Services for groups or workshops with large numbers of non-UCAR participants in attendance. Instructions will be posted for visitors and vendors to use the phone box outside CG1 and will be given telephone assistance connecting with their UCAR contact. CG1 cafeteria service will be available from 7:30 am unitl 3 pm your patronage is welcome. Front desk services; petty cash, check cashing, stamps and EAC item sales will continue to be available at CG4. The CG4 lobby is staffed from 9 am until 3:30 pm. Services are not available between noon and 1 pm. The FedEx pick up box will be relocated to the CG4 lobby. All outgoing FedEx packages must be in the box by 3 pm to make same day pick up. There will be no change in shuttle or black service. Shuttle drivers will continue to make pickups and deliveries at CG1 and will perform a courtesy call for black bags that go to staff in CG 1,2 & 3. Shuttle service will remain as scheduled. The UCARFlex 2004 Open Enrollment Web site is now available for employees to make health insurance and flexible spending account selections by Monday, December 1. Open your web browser and enter http://www.fin.ucar.edu/ucarflex. Please be sure to enter the address exactly as you see it here. Once you enter the above URL, type in your login ID and password-the same login and password you use to complete your timecard. You'll then see a portal site where you'll see a list of applications. UCARFlex Open Enrollment: This link takes you directly to the screens that allow you to change medical and/or dental elections for 2004. At the end of this process there is a link to the UCAR Leave Plan Selection screen. UCAR Leave Selection Plan: This link takes you directly to the screens that allow you to change your Leave Plan for 2004 (If hired prior to Jan. 5, 2003). At the end of this one-page process there is a link to the UCARFlex Open Enrollment screen. You may change/update your selections in both sites as often as you'd like until 5:00 p.m., December 1. by Tony Craig Friday, Nov. 14, 2PM, Damon Room This seminar will summarize the current and anticipated interactions between the Community Climate System Model (CCSM) and the Earth System Modeling Framework (ESMF) projects. It will be geared to a general audience of scientists and programmers. An overview of the objectives, scope, and design of ESMF will be presented along with the project's timeline and status. An overview of the CCSM system will also be presented focusing on design of the current coupled system, performance, and future goals. Interactions between CCSM and ESMF will be reviewed and an evaluation and implementation plan for ESMF in CCSM presented.

The NCAR Library at the Mesa Lab has designated the area where Technical Reports are shelved as a meeting or study space, which can be reserved by NCAR/UCAR staff. The open area includes a large window, oak table, and chairs that can accommodate a maximum of ten. There is connectivity for several computers.
