Information for Friday, Dec 13 - January 10, 2003 UCAR wide calendar users of meetingmaker, this is for YOU! For the next 4 weeks current users of Meeting Maker will be able to prepare for the upgrade by simply logging into Meeting Maker and keeping the application open ONCE overnight. During this time, files necessary for the 7.3 upgrade will be downloaded from the server onto your client PC, Mac or Solaris workstation in the background in 8 K chunks. This will allow the necessary installation files to exist so that when the server is upgraded your Meeting Maker client will be ready to connect to the new server version. Here are some things to keep in mind for the PUSH upgrade now. 1. The mm files begin downloading the NEXT time you sign in to meetingmaker. Then, please keep MM open so the file downloads can occur-takes several hours. We suggest you do this overnight. Takes ONE overnight session. 2. ALL : **Do not minimize MM while the PUSH is occurring.** Windows & Solaris: creates an MMUpgrdC folder and new installer files. Macintosh creates a folder called "MMXP Upgrades (Client)". Don't delete these folders or directories! 3. Solaris clients - Unless you've installed MM into the default directory, the files may not be downloaded. How will you know the files were downloaded? Check contents of the MMUpgdC folder. Most files are dated Nov 7, 2002. In case you have questions of your meetingmaker system administrator, a list of MMSystem Admnistrators is available on the webpage: www.fin.ucar.edu/it/dsn/mm/sys admin.htm

The NCAR/UCAR/UOP Annual Awards Ceremony and Holiday Party today at Center Green. The festivities will begin at 3 pm sharp, with a String Quintet, the Papillion Chamber Players, featuring Dave Fulker and including NCAR's own Becky Ruttenberg from RAP, leading the event in the lobby area.
