NCAR/UCAR staff can contact the library when they need to order books, journals, and other research materials that will be kept in their offices. Use an office copy request form to provide a description of the item along with a program number and signature of the person who can authorize the purchase. If you choose to use email, please have the person with signature authority forward the message. Orders for journals subscriptions should be sent to Mary Chavez (ext. 1184, maryc@ucar.edu) and orders for books and other types of publications should be sent to Judy Dayhoff (ext. 1175, dayhoff@ucar.edu).

The NCAR Science Store has started the moving process - and will be open until November 27th, this Wednesday, at the Mesa Lab. We plan on re-opening in the FL2 lobby on December 9th (thanks to the help of all maintenance and facilities staff!!) Please contact Mary Ramunno-Akey ext. 2401 if you need items during the transition period. We will try to accommodate as best as we can. Due to popular demand we have extended the 15% discount on all items, except some books and videos, until the end of December - this way FL, PS and Jeffco employees can also benefit. We also plan on satellite stores being at Jeffco one day, and at Pearl Street 3 days in December.

The UCARFlex 2003 Enrollment Web site is available for employees to make health insurance and flexible spending account selections by Monday, December 2. The link to the web site is below. Use your timecard login and password to access the site. In addition, benefit-eligible employees MUST access the web site to elect their 2003 leave option -- PTO or Traditional Leave. Leave elections must also be made by Monday, December 2. Please access https://www.fin.ucar.edu/hr/internal/Leave_Options.html to read more about the PTO and Traditional Leave options. Please remember that ALL eligible employees must access the site and enroll for next year no matter which plan an employee currently carries.

The Library has added more titles to the web page for electronic journals. Access to this list is available from the Library Web site (http://www.ucar.edu/library). Click on the E-Journals button at the top of the screen to view an alphabetical list of over 260 full text journals available to NCAR/UCAR staff. The EAC is selling discount tickets for next week's performance of the Nutcracker at Macky Auditorium. This is a fabulous discount of 25%, yes, that's right, 25%! I know you are saying to yourself, "gee, how does the EAC keep coming up with these great discounts?" Well, it's our dedication to the employees of UCAR/NCAR/UOP that keeps us motivated. BUT, there is a catch! Ah, hah, you say! The catch is that we only have 20 tickets for each performance. Performances are Friday, November 29th at 7 pm; Saturday, November 30th at 2 pm and at 7 pm; and Sunday, December 1st at 2 pm. The prices for the tickets are $15 and $30, and in case I didn't mention this earlier, that's 25% off the regular price! This is a real deal! The database, Meteorological and Geoastrophysical Abstracts (MGA), is available for UCAR/NCAR/UOP staff from the Library Website (http://www.ucar.edu/library/) under the heading of Info Resources. Not just journal articles, but many other types of publications on weather, climate and associated subjects are thoroughly covered in MGA, so if your needs are focused on technical materials that are fundamental to the atmospheric sciences and were published during the past three decades, we highly recommend the use of this database.
