Come listen to Holiday music by the Papillon Chamber Players, a string quartet featuring RAP's Becky Ruttenberg; watch the UCARolers try once again to perform a seasonal "light blue" Christmas carol; help EAC thank the many groups who support these parties every year; help recognize the outstanding achievements in UCAR for 2001; and then eat, drink, and party with Ten Forward, an 11-member brass R&B band. Families are welcome. Please note: * there will be extra shuttles running from ML on the Crossroads route at 6:35 pm and 7:05 pm. * viewing near the Mesa Lab Mezzanine is limited, so arrive early and share space as much as possible. * please be considerate of others during the entertainment and award ceremony, by remaining as quiet as possible. * enjoy the festivities!

The 2001 Holiday Awards Ceremony and Party is this Friday, 7 Dec, at
the Mesa Lab from 3:00-7:00. The fun begins with some fine Holiday

"Light Blue" Christmas carol. Then the Awards ceremony (approx 3:45),
where we acknowledge the finest accomplishments the Lab has put
together this year. Then it's on to food, drink, and dance music
by "Ten Forward", an 11-member R&B brass band.

Several provisions in the recently enacted Economic Growth and Tax Relief Reconciliation Act of 2001 will allow UCAR employees to increase tax-deferral contributions (any contributions above the mandatory 5% contributions) to a TIAA-CREF Retirement Annuity (RA) or a Supplemental Retirement Annuity (SRA). This means that most UCAR employees will be able to contribute up to $11,000 in 2002 to their RA and/or SRA annuities. To learn more about the tax law, TIAA-CREF representatives will be on-site Wednesday to present seminars outlining these changes. No sign-up is required. The seminars are scheduled for Wednesday, December 5: Foothills Lab Auditorium, 10:00 a.m. Mesa Lab Main Seminar Room, 1:30 p.m.
