NOTE: The version of this announcement posted yesterday had a bad URL. Please see below for the corrected one. Rush-Hour Relief is the annual campaign to reduce traffic congestion in the metro area. Each fall, companies sign up for the program - at no cost - and encourage their employees to pledge to commute once a week from November through March by some means other than driving alone. They can join a carpool or vanpool, ride the bus or light rail, bike or walk during nice weather, or work from home and avoid the commute altogether! Pledge and submit monthly "Commute Calendars" from the link below.

Present for entire meeting: Rick Anthes, Steve Dickson, Jack Fellows, Tim Killeen and Katy Schmoll. Present for item 1: Justin Young, Jana Ray, Janet Evans, Bob Roesch, Kathy Stand Present for item 4: Susan Sutherland, Cindy Schmidt, Don Middleton 1. Planning for FY03 Indirect Budget. We reviewed the departmental budgets for the UCAR G&A budgets for FY03. As per the guidance from Rick, only a very few increments were proposed, given the budget outlook for FY03 and the under- recovery of indirect costs in FY01. The guidance obtained from this discussion will be used to prepare a draft budget for discussion at the 21 December President's Council meeting. All members of the Council should provide appropriate information to Jana Ray as soon as possible. 2. Short and Long Term Space Planning. Katy briefed the Council on the status of the new FL building, with designs being prepared for City review. We are also awaiting an assessment of the FL-1, 2, and 3 buildings, which will help determine landscape requirements. For the longer term, Katy will take the lead in developing a set of strategic options for facility acquisition. 3. Membership on UCAR Management Committee. We discussed revised membership on the UCAR Management Committee and agreed to add Rena Brasher-Alleva, Susan Friberg, Dale Kellogg, John Pereira, Steve Sadler, Cindy Schmidt, Kathy Strand, Lucy Warner, Melissa Miller, Bob Roesch, and Shawn Winkelman to the UMC. The previous category "Observers" will be eliminated since the meetings are open to all UCAR employees, except for rare Executive sessions. 4. Meeting with Susan Sutherland, Director of NIST's Boulder Laboratory. We met with Susan for two hours, which included lunch. Rick, Katy, Jack, and Tim made brief presentations introducing UCAR, NCAR, and UOP. We had good discussions on a number of important issues including day care, security, BRAN, SOARS, and how to interact better with the Colorado Senators. We adjourned at 1:10 PM.
