A new addition to the Info Resources page of the Library Web site (http://www.ucar.edu/library) is a link to the NASA Astrophysics Data System (ADS). This abstract service provides access to data published from 1975 to the present in the fields of astronomy, astrophysics, instrumentation, physics and geophysics. You will find citations to journal articles, conference papers, NASA reports, Ph.D. theses, and links to full text articles published in most of the major astronomical journals.

FOOTHILLS LAB: Thursday, 1 November through 25 January, 12:00- 1:00 Monday, 22 January through 5 March, 11:00-12:00 (Note: There are soooo many holidays, you might want to supplement by attending some of the Thursday classes!) Mat classes are non-impact, designed to build strength and flexibil- ity, with focus on mobilizing the joints of the body. We will also work strengthening the abdominals to alleviate back strain through pelvic stabilization and work on shoulder stabilization. Learning proper body mechanics is like having the "owners' manual" for the body! Pilates mat classes are the perfect travel and home exercise. All you need is your body and a mat. No props or equipment necessary! If you have injuries, I recommend that you contact me to evaluate whether this class is right for you. I can teach you modifications of the exercises as necessary. You may begin classes any time. No need to wait until the beginning of a session. Try your first class free! The cost for each session is $48. If you are trying the class for the first time, it is complementary, deduct $8. Drop-in rates are $10 per class, for those with Pilates experience.

IMPORTANT PAYROLL ANOUNCEMENT In order to assure the timeliness of the Dec. 29th final 2000 payday, (period covered 12/10 thru 12/23/00) we will be processing payroll on Friday, Dec. 22nd. The "Clearing House" requires a 3-day window for the processing of our electronic deposit file, (automatic deposit into your accounts. Since Monday and Tuesday (the normal processing days) are UCAR holidays, the short Christmas week does not allow for this 3-day window, hence the processing on Friday, December 22nd. Please plan ahead and be sure your time card is submitted and authorized before Friday, Dec. 22nd. Processing will start by 10:00 Friday morning. This does not allow for entering time cards past 10:00 am. If you are leaving town, please be sure you take care of your time card obligations BEFORE you leave. If you are leaving town before your authorization obligations can be met, please be sure to set up agents who can authorize your timecards in your absence. This is done through your "agents" link. Click on the add-line button. Type the name in the search field. Choose the role (authorize) and click on save. If you need help doing this, please contact Karla Edwards at X8881, or e-mail tchelp@ucar.edu.

The Library has purchased a subscription to JSTOR, an electronic database composed of the backfiles of a couple of hundred scholarly journals that include general science, ecology and botany. The focus of this database is to provide full text access to older issues of journals. Examples of titles in JSTOR are: Biometrika Ecological Applications Ecology Journal of the American Statistical Association Limnology and Oceanography Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society of London Series A Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences Science SIAM Journal on Numerical Analysis You can access JSTOR from the Info Resources page of the Library website at http://www.ucar.edu/library. As you browse the list of journals you will find many titles not previously owned by the NCAR Library. You have the capability to conduct searches and read or print full text articles from any of these journals.
