The Library has completed its in-depth evaluation of NCAR/UCAR journals, including our recent poll of staff to learn which journals they use. From our research we have derived a list of journals which, due to lack of use, are candidates for cancellation. The list can be seen on the Web at http://www.dir.ucar.edu/iss/lib/journals.html We are asking NCAR/UCAR staff to help us with this phase in the evaluation process by reviewing the list of journals identified for cancellation. If you note a title the Library should continue to own because you use it in your research, please send the title to Gayl Gray accompanied by a statement describing the extent to which it is used. We need your response by the end of the day on Thursday, August 12, 1999. Thanks.
For more information, contact Gayl Gray at 1183, gayl@ucar.edu. Or see

As a service to UCAR employees participating in the TIAA-CREF retirement plan, you will soon receive your 1999 maximum tax-deferred savings calculation. This calculation, based upon the June 1 salary increase, provides you with a more accurate calculation for the calendar year. For most employees, the packet will arrive at your home address. For those employees with part-time service and/or breaks in service, the packet will be sent through internal mail. As a reminder, TIAA-CREF's web site provides access to your personal retirement plan information. You may view your balances, change allocations, make transfers, and more. The information can be accessed using your TIAA-CREF Personal Identification Number (PIN). The site is located at http://www.tiaa-cref.org/. Click on InterACT and enter your PIN. If you don't know your PIN, one can be requested through the web site.

The Mesa Lab Refurbishment Project is compiling a list of water leaks and surface cracks at the Mesa Lab and the Fleischmann Building to investigate possible repairs. With the recent rains, some of you may be experiencing such leaks. Please report these leaks or cracks to the e-mail or phone number below. Please be as specific as possible as to the location and possible entry point of the water, since it may not be leaking when we come out to investigate. Your help is appreciated.
