If you use a locker in UCAR fitness areas at ML, FL or UN, this WILL effect you. For sites, dates, times, and other information visit the WAC web site at: http://www.ucar.edu/ucargen/groups/wellness/wellness.html If you have any questions, contact Lena Miller (ext. 1123), John Pereira (ext. 1128) or Jim Menghi (ext. 8558, menghi@ucar.edu). ************************************************************************ FACILITIES NOTES: COOLING, STORAGE, AND DISPOSAL After hours cooling We have been practicing good energy management at the Mesa Laboratory for several years and at Foothills Laboratory since we moved in. We wanted to remind you of the different schedule for air conditioning after hours at both the Mesa Laboratory and Foothills Laboratory that is in place. Please be aware that this occurs as it may affect your comfort level. If you know that you will need additional cooling or heating for an after hours event, you can notify Maintenance at x1120 and they can make some adjustments. Mesa Lab schedule for normal operations is: 6:30-6:30 Monday through Friday 8:00-5:00 Saturday, Sundays and Holidays The Foothills operation is more automated. There is no after hours mode. As the building becomes more unoccupied, the fans get progressively slower to maintain a minimum static pressure in the supply ducts in order to maintain setback temperatures in the building. Anytime someone needs more cooling or heat, the automatic occupancy sensor is activated and additional air is delivered. The fan speeds will then ramp up as rooms become occupied. The setback temperatures, when a room is unoccupied, are 85 degrees for cooling, and 65 degrees for heating. Record storage Looking for an easy way to create more space? Archives staff provide storage for office records (i.e., paper documents, disks, tapes, etc.) that are no longer in active use. When boxed, these records are transferred to a secure facility in Denver, and can be retrieved at any time (usually with 24 hours notice). The Archives supplies double-walled boxes and self-adhesive labels at no charge to staff. The stored boxes are tracked on an automated database. For complete information, please refer to the Archives' website: http://www.dir.ucar.edu/iss/lib/archive/homepage.html or call Diane Rabson (rabson@ucar) at x8508. Sams Warehouse Another option for cleaning up your office and labs is to send stuff to Sams. Sams Warehouse if very secure and is used for things that are not record storage. Everything is kept track of and would be easily retrieved when you need it and only Traffic Services has access to this storage. This is not a place to keep things that you may not ever need. Those things need to be excessed. Call Kerry Slaven (x1143) if you want something transferred to Sams. Disposing of Excess We encourage everyone to get rid of things in offices and labs that they are not going to need again. Caron Chambers (x8860) can answer your questions about how to excess government property. Kerry can also help you move it out of your way. Any questions, call Pat Harris, x8534 or pharris@ucar.edu. ************************************************************************ STAFF DEVELOPMENT NEWS May classes ACCOUNTING BASICS: Applications for UCAR Tuesdays and Thursdays - 6, 8, 13, 15 May 8:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. FL2-1003 Facilitator: Janet Evans This class will help participants to gain a basic understanding of financial accounting concepts and principles with an emphasis on nonprofit accounting.
