Paste the text of your announcement into the body of your email message, rather than appended as an attachment or enclosure. ************************************************************************ ONE MORE '96 PATENT A final UCAR patent for 1996 came in just under the wire, too late to make it into the wrap-up on '96 patents that appeared in the January issue of SN Monthly. "Radar Acquisition System" was granted to Mitch Randall and Eric Loew (ATD) on 31 December. Patent #5,589,833 is for their personal computer-based integrated radar acquisition (PIRAQ) system, for which Mitch, Eric, and Joe Vinson received the 1996 Technology Advancement Award. Check the December 1996 issue of SN Monthly or look on the Web at http://www.ucar.edu/perf/perf96.html to learn more about PIRAQ. ************************************************************************ FITNESS CENTERS TO BE CLEANED ON FEBRUARY 2 On February 2, 1997, the cleaning staff will thoroughly clean all fitness rooms and locker rooms at FL and ML. The fitness rooms include the rooms with fitness equipment and rooms with exercise floors. Staff are advised that access will be limited, at best, to these facilities on this day. The cleaning will include the following: 1. Cleaning all floors, walls, and ceilings in these rooms. This includes shampooing carpets, scrubbing tiled or linoleum floors and walls, wet mopping all wooden floors, and wiping down all painted wall surfaces. 2. Cleaning all equipment. This includes wiping down all equipment while only moving that equipment that may be moved easily. 3. Wiping down the doors of all lockers, on the outside surface only. (This is NOT the annual cleaning of the lockers that we all know and love.) 4. Dusting all surfaces. This includes dusting all window sills, cabinet surfaces, table tops, and another surfaces that need dusting. Thank you for your participation. ************************************************************************ IN THE GALLERIES: REEVES AND KLAIBER Award-winning painter Carol Reeves will present her one-woman show in NCAR's Gallery I from 3 to 28 February. Reeves is a member of the Denver Allied Artists Guild and an active participant in Denver's art scene. The mixed watermedia paintings on display in the Mesa Laboratory's second floor gallery are part of a collection of the artist's most recent works. Kaz Klaiber will present her one-woman show "Departure" in NCAR's Gallery II from 2 February through 30 March. The show features sculptural paintings, an evolving media for the Boulder ceramicist and art educator. Klaiber will be painting on site during gallery hours every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday throughout the show's run. The public is also invited to a closing reception in the gallery on 30 March 1997 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m NCAR art exhibitions can be previewed on the World Wide Web at www.dir.ucar.edu/iss/dmc/vishome. For further information please call Nita Razo, ext. 8606, or Linda Carbone, ext. 8612. ************************************************************************ BBDCA VOUCHERS FOR SCHOOL AGE CHILDREN If you have school age children who attend a before or after school program, vacation camp, in-service day program, or summer camp you can receive up to $50 in vouchers to subsidize the cost of your school age child care tuition. These vouchers can be used at hundreds of sites along the Front Range including all YMCA and Children's World programs. This year a number of new programs have agreed to honor these vouchers including Boulder Valley School SACC, Jeff Co. SACC, and Adams 12 schools. One booklet per child. A complete list of the participating programs is available in the Human Resources department. If your children attend a program not listed you may want to check the child care discount list and see if they offer a discount to members of the Dependent Care Associations.
