The 1970s

Do-it-yourself graphics, sans computer, reached NCAR offices in 1975 with the distribution of visual aids kits prepared by Betty Bloom, administrative assistant for the Communications Services Department. These kits were intended for times when deadlines prohibited use of the NCAR Graphics department (now IDC). The kits included color pens, a French curve pattern, blue-line format paper for transparencies, and a template for hand lettering.
