The 1970s

At left, Jack Hinkelman (long-time RAF manager) greets Ron Ruth (still at RAF), pilot Bill Zinser, and engineer Bill Bragg at Jeffco as they stride from the NSF/NCAR Electra on their return from the tropical Atlantic in September 1974. Some 40 NCAR staff were part of the 1974 field campaign in GARP's Atlantic Tropical Experiment (GATE), a massive project involving more than 70 nations.
