The 1980s

Morris Weisman chased storms well before the film Twister made it hip. The MMM scientist participated in field programs through the 1980s and 1990s to document tornadoes and severe thunderstorms. He also joined with MMM's Joe Klemp and Rich Rotunno in using numerical cloud models to understand the relationship between environmental conditions such as wind shear and the development of convective features such as supercell storms, squall lines, and bow echoes.
