This time it's for real: Norm Zrubek is ready to fly

After inching toward retirement for over a year, Norm Zrubek is finally taking the plunge. The long-time aeronautical engineer at RAF was honored with a party at the Mesa Lab on 14 April and an RAF barbecue bash on 16 April at Jeffco. Below, Jason Peete and Larry Murphy tend to the grill under the nose of the NSF/NCAR Electra. At the Mesa Lab, a cake festooned with a photo of the Electra (above) provided Norm with a tasty send-off, while a new tennis racket presented to Norm by his peers (left) should keep him busy on the courts. See the July 1998 issue of Staff Notes Monthly, for a profile of Norm and his many accomplishments at NCAR. (Photos by Carlye Calvin.)
