| It's spring, when the minds of many meteorologists turn to thoughts of thunder. Bob Henson took this photo of mammatus clouds billowing from the anvil of a severe thunderstorm in the Oklahoma Panhandle on 1 May of last year. Late freezes had kept the area's trees unseasonably bare. COMET is helping the nation's forecasters anticipate what sort of stormy weather to expect on a given day.
