From coast to coast, FASTEX probes winter storms in the Atlantic
| Visitors and staff at the Mesa Lab got the chance to experience a personal thunderstorm with a new sound system tested as a possible permanent enhancement to the ML exhibits program. The Secret Sound speaker system delivers high-quality, focused sound to a small area. Users stand beneath the device, which resembles a light fixture, to listen to narration, music, or other audio clips. The system was in place through January in front of the ML lightning display. Users heard the crashing and crackling of a storm in the wilderness. Here, Tim Barnes samples the sound. (Photo by Carlye Calvin.) |
