Below is a summary. If you have any questions about recycling procedures, please ask your area coordinator (see the list in the all-staff mailing distributed several weeks ago). These folks are anxious to help keep you informed. Magazines may now be commingled (collected together) with all recyclable mixed office paper in one side of the deskside containers. Newspaper is the only recyclable paper that has to be kept separate; for now, you can put it in the other side of your deskside bin. Cans and glass bottles are now commingled at collection stations around the buildings. Plastic pop bottles and translucent jugs are commingled in labeled collection bins at the ML and FL cafeteria tray return areas. Also commingled in bins at the same location are juice boxes and gabled milk cartons. -----Drawing Winners Congratulations go to winners of the Recycling Program kick-off drawings. The two grand prize winners are David McNutt (ML) and Willie Haynes (FL); they each will receive a beautiful canvas bag filled with "eco-products." T-shirt winners are Joe Barry, Steve Emmerson, Kristy Hotaling, Randy Kamischke, Pat Kennedy, Peggy LeMone, Barry Mosely, and Ed Schrader. -----Reminder: Elitch Day Is Next Friday Don't forget that Friday, 5 August, is NCAR's discount day at Elitch Gardens Amusement Park. The Employee Activities Committee has secured a special group discount rate, giving you an unlimited ride pass for just $9.75 ($6.00 for children age 3 or younger). Gate passes are available for $6.00 for those who want to attend but donÕt want to go on the rides (for children age 3 and under, gate admission only is free). Tickets may be used for the whole day, 10:00 a.m. until close. Volunteers from the EAC will be firing up the grills at the River House pavilion late in the afternoon (bring your own grillables), and free pop and beer will be available (with proper ID) from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tickets must be purchased in advance. Tickets, nametags, and maps are available at the FL and ML bank windows and from Judy Wade at Jeffco. -----In The Galleries: Jim DeLutes Jim DeLutes will show his photographic images in the cafeteria of the Mesa Lab from 2 through 30 September. DeLutes has his studio in Boulder. He has been taking images for years and says about the tens of thousands of images he has shot, "the awe and wonder of capturing moments in time has only increased." Whether it is the simple splendor of a nature scene, the fury of a lightning storm, or an intimate encounter with a flower, DeLutes hopes that people feel the desire to walk into hisimages, whether visually or emotionally. A price list of the show is available at the receptionistÕs desk in the main lobby. For more information, please call the artist at 661-0081. -----UCAR Fitness Centers - August 1994 Class Schedule This calendar includes all classes endorsed by the Wellness Advisory Committee.
