Last year it was the "Older Boulder," with the mastersŐ runners leading off the citizensŐ race. This year runners endured the "Scalder Boulder" with noontime temperatures reaching 90ˇF. Although the warm conditions translated into slower times for most runners, they did provide a pleasurable environment for watching the professional runners later in the day. NCAR officially entered three teams this year, all finishing in the top ten of the Corporate A Division (greater than 500 employees). Hewlett Packard and StorageTek took the first two places. The multidivisional NCAR Storm Chasers moved up a couple of places from previous years to take third overall. The team consisted of Dave Albo, Andrew Crook (48th overall with a time of 34 minutes, 26 seconds), Detlev Helmig, Rick Katz (first in his age group with a time of 34:57), Arthur Mizzi, Betty OŐLear (first in her age group at 49:45), Elizabeth Sulzman, and Stan Trier. In eighth place in the A Division were the CGD Global Warmers, made up of Christine Brodeur, Sue Haupt, Sonya Legg, Leslie Mayer, Tony Craig, Brian Eaton, Charlie Zender, and Gary Bates. The team was led by Brian and Leslie, with times of 40:02 and 41:27, respectively. Leslie finished as the 53rd-placing woman overall and second in her age group. The MMM Momentum Flux, organized by Jimy Dudhia and comprised mostly of MMM folk, took tenth in the Corporate A division. The runners were Janice Coen, Chris Davis, Michael Dey, Joe Klemp, Winnie Lambert, Kay Miloshevich (COMET), Rich Rotunno, and Bill Skamarock. -----New UNICOS Book Available The NCAR UNICOS Guide, Version 1.0, June 1994 (207 pages) has just been released by SCD.
