March 2005

Steve Schneider’s 60th

Current and former NCAR staff and students gathered with Steve Schneider during the symposium on Whole Earth Systems: Integrating Environmental Science, Technology, and Policy. The event honored the former CGD senior scientist, who also served as a director of ASP, for his professional contributions on the occasion of his 60th birthday. Some 200 colleagues met for the event at Stanford University, where he is now a professor and senior fellow. The all-day sessions on 10-12 February reflected the range of Steve’s influence in the areas of climate change; interdisciplinary links with biosciences, economics, and other disciplines; and communicating scientific findings to policy makers and the public.
