An honors biology class at Coventry High School in Coventry, Connecticut, donated $320 to NCAR to help fund research on the depletion of the stratospheric ozone layer. The students chose NCAR after reading materials sent to them that described NCAR's research topics, specifically the ozone hole.
NCAR director Bob Serafin commented, "We are grateful for the donation and excited that a high school class would demonstrate such commitment to the environment and to NCAR research."
The students' car wash was part of a larger project to educate the Coventry community about the destruction of ozone.
