UCAR's annual health fair gave staff the chance to get a five-minute
midday massage without leaving work. Aloha Wellness, from Boulder, was
one of two therapists who provided free massages during the Mesa Lab
health fair on 24 January. The fair included blood analysis, cholesterol
screening, vision and hearing tests, blood-pressure checks, body mass
analysis, health and wellness information booths, andfor men over
50 or otherwise at riskscreening for prostate cancer. Last year
one participant found a suspicious increase in his prostate-specific
antigen (PSA) levels. "Thanks to the health fair, he sought further
tests and treatment and now has an excellent prognosis," says Cheryl
Cristanelli. Cheryl (below), from Human Resources, coordinated the
annual health fair. She and Betty Valent (left) staffed the Mesa Lab
event. The fair also stopped at Foothills Lab on 17 January and Jeffco
on 31 January. The UCAR
Wellness Advisory Committee,
sponsors the annual event, which is free and open to UCAR staff, their
immediate family, and retirees. More than 300 staff participated in this
year's event, a new record for the fair. (Photos by Brian Bevirt.)
