Carolers from Heatherwood Elementary School (left) kicked off the all-
staff holiday party on 8 December with a mix of traditional and lesser-
heard songs, including one world premiere. In a salute to NCAR, the
Heatherwood Hot Shots set new lyrics to "Jingle Bells." (See full lyrics
below.) Afterward, a few EAC members and friends took to the mezzanine
stage as the UCARolers (right). They performed an intermingled version
of "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer" and "Frosty the Snowman," arranged
by the EAC's Craig Hartsough, with UCAR president Rick Anthes serving as
mediator between partisans of the two carols. The EAC children's holiday
party, held a few days earlier on the mesa, brought over 200 children
accompanied by parents. The EAC provided toys through the NCAR Science
Store, and a Denver-area magician entertained the crowd. (Photos by
Oh, Santa will be late,|
His sled is in a spin,
In Australia down under,
A williewa came in,
When he finally got out,
The stratocu's were thick,
His arrival here's in doubt,
Can Rudolph do the trick?
Oh, NCAR folks, NCAR folks,|
Can you save the day?
Help St. Nick to navigate
And Rudolph find his way.
Chart the storm, please inform
Santa of the way,
So Boulder children get their gifts
When science saves the day!
