Winter hasn't yet paid a full-fledged visit to Boulder, it seems, but near the Continental Divide it's been a different story. Tim Hunsdorfer (NCAR Director's Office) caught a crisp view of a foehn cloud formed by this winter's persistent westerlies (above) as he and his wife were visiting Estes Park. Says Tim, "The photo was taken looking west from Estes Park looking into Rocky Mountain National Park into about a 60-mile-an-hour wind, which is why my wife (the real photographer) didn't take it." Carlye Calvin was in Rollinsville on a very windy, very wintry day in January (below), albeit with a bit of clear sky visible. BH
