Scenes from the AMS meeting

COMET's 10th anniversary was toasted at a reception on 11 January. Ten people who helped launch COMET in the late 1980s and early 1990s received "founders' awards." Many collaborators and friends of the program were on hand, including (left) University of Oklahoma professor Ken Crawford and (right) NWS deputy director John Jones. (Photos by Bob Henson.)

Not to be outdone by the AMS awards, Tim Barnes (Education and Tour Program) was a winner as well. Tim, who staffed the UCAR exhibit, got a Furby doll courtesy of a business-card drawing at the IPS MeteoStar booth.

Two of CGD's award-winners-to-be and their wives joined UCAR president Rick Anthes (center) at the exhibit hall shortly before the AMS awards banquet on 12 January. At left are Kevin and Gail Trenberth; at right, Warren and Mary Washington.
