NCAR-Wyoming Supercomputing Center

A Work in Progress

Construction on the NWSC began in June 2010. The following photos were taken in March 2011, when the center was more than 50% complete.

To take advantage of Cheyenne's cool climate, louvers (top) allow air to enter this room after which it can flow into the diesel generator room below through additional vents (bottom). The height and angle of the louvers help prevent snow from entering the vents. The main benefit of having these open louvers three stories up is to avoid drawing in the ground blizzards for which Wyoming is known.
