CONFERENCE ON SOLAR ASTROPHYSICAL MAGNETOHYDRODYNAMICS Deadline for applications is 1 May Five hot topics in solar and astrophysical magnetohydrodynamics will be the focus of a four-day conference to be held at NCAR in August. According to the organizers, these topics have witnessed unprecedented growth and development, owing to recent advances in observation and theory. A limited number of participants will be selected to come to Boulder 2Ð5 August to hear invited speakers on these subjects: Coronal Magnetic Fields and Magnetic Nonequilibrium: M. Berger, I. Craig, A. Hundhausen, Z. Mikic, S. Tsuneta Photospheric Magnetic Fields and Magnetic Intermittency: P. Fox, V. Martinez-Pillet, F. Moreno-Insertis, T. Tarbell, S. Solanki, O. Steiner Interaction of Flows with Magnetic Fields and Dynamo Activity: G. Glatzmaier, E. Marsch, E. Ott, M. SchŸssler, A. Title, N. Weiss Magnetic Fields and Angular Momentum Transport in Stars: P. Charbonneau, L. Hartmann, T. Mouschovias, K. Schrijver, D. Soderblom, S. Stahler Magnetic Fields, Solar Variability, and Climate Change: G. Chapman, R. Roble, E. Parker The conference is being sponsored by NCAR's Advanced Study Program and High Altitude Observatory and by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration. Organizers welcome poster contributions that are closely related to the five conference topics. Applications must be received by 1 May. Advanced graduate students and postdoctoral fellows with demonstrated interest in the topics are encouraged to apply. Some financial support for travel and accommodation may be available.
