Deadlines for observing facilities requests The National Science Foundation Observing Facilities Advisory Panel (OFAP) will meet in April and October 1994 to consider requests for use of all NSF-sponsored lower atmospheric observing facilities. These include facilities at NCAR, Colorado State University, South Dakota School of Mines and Technology, and the University of Wyoming. The panel evaluates requests and makes recommendations on allocations to the NSF Facilities Advisory Council. The deadlines for receipt of requests prior to these two meetings, respectively, are 14 February 1994 (for facility use between 1 October 1994 and 1 April 1995); and 15 August 1994 (for facility use between 1 April 1995 and 1 October 1995). The observing facilities available and the individuals to whom requests or inquiries should be directed are listed below. Scientists seeking facility support in conjunction with NSF grants should include a brief description of those requirements in their grant applications, which are due at NSF four months prior to the facilities panel meeting. ATD now has a pointer on the NCAR Internet Gopher to its own Gopher, labeled ÒAtmospheric Observing Facilities (ATD)/.Ó Its purpose is to provide easy access to up-to-date information about NCAR observing facilities to potential users in the atmospheric sciences community. Updates to OFAP deadlines will be announced periodically on this Gopher, which will be expanded to include other information about NCAR observing facilities of interest to users. See your system administrator for instructions on using the Internet Gopher. Suggestions on the content of the Atmospheric Observing Facilities Gopher can be directed to Will Piper at NCAR/ATD.
