The UCAR Quarterly is published four times a year in print and on the Web by UCAR Communications. Its goal is to publicize the activities of the University Corporation for Atmospheric Research (including the National Center for Atmospheric Research and the UCAR Office of Programs) and its collaborators. UCAR operates NCAR and UOP with support from the National Science Foundation and other sponsors.

UCAR's mission is to support, enhance, and extend the capabilities of the university community, nationally and internationally; to understand the behavior of the atmospheric and related systems and the global environment; and to foster the transfer of knowledge and technology for the betterment of life on earth.
