BOULDER—Fall has arrived and school is back in session. That means it’s time for Super Science Saturday, held at the National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR) from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on October 25. In celebration of the centennial of flight, the theme this year is High-Flying Science.

The day’s events include science fun for students, parents, and teachers. NCAR scientists will perform live demonstrations to illustrate the evolution of flight from its early beginnings to current technology. Visitors can try out a paper airplane launcher and even test their skills in a paper airplane flying contest. They can also watch a magical math show and stop by activity tables presented by NASA, Wild Bear Center for Nature Discovery, University of Colorado Science Discovery/Fiske Planetarium, GLOBE/CloudSat, and the Rocky Mountain Raptor Program.

Super Science Saturday is funded by Friends of UCAR, the Scientific and Cultural Facility District, and Seagate Technology, Inc.

NCAR's science exhibits, art galleries, and science store will be open all day. The store features science kits, educational toys, books for all age levels, and more. Visitors can purchase lunch and snacks in the cafeteria.

The event will take place at NCAR’s Mesa Lab, located at the west end of Table Mesa Drive in Boulder. For more information, call (303) 497-1185. Find a full schedule of the day’s events on the Web go to the Super Science Saturday website.
