The public is invited to NCAR's Mesa Laboratory from 10:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. for a first-hand look at the latest creations of Colorado's high school computer whizzes. The fair is cohosted by Colorado State University and NCAR. Nearly 100 Colorado high school students will be presenting 45 projects in one of three areas: computational science, visualization, or information technology (such as applications for the World Wide Web). Computational science is the use of computers to study science problems. After viewing the projects from 10:00 a.m. to noon, visitors are invited to enjoy a buffet lunch for sale in the NCAR cafeteria and share the excitement of the awards ceremony from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Bill Buzbee, director of NCAR's Scientific Computing Division, will give the keynote speech at 1:30 p.m. NCAR's Mesa Laboratory is located at the west end of Table Mesa Drive in south Boulder. From Denver, take the first Boulder exit off U.S. 36 West (CU Stadium/Foothills Parkway) to Table Mesa Drive. Turn left at the light and drive 3.5 miles west to the lab. NCAR is managed by the University Corporation for Atmospheric Research under sponsorship of the National Science Foundation. -The End- Writer: David Hosansky ÿ
