Guidelines for Donation
The UCAR Archives Program permanently preserves records that are deemed to have continuing scientific, administrative, and historic value, at the discretion of the archivist in consultation with staff.
- Records that do not meet the criteria for archival preservation are stored in a secure offsite commercial records storage facility
- All boxes of records are tracked on an electronic, non-public database maintained by the Archives.
Both scientific and administrative records, in various formats, comprise the archival collection. These may include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Memoranda, correspondence, notebooks
- E-mail records
- Data
- Manuscripts
- Newsletters
- Committee records and conference material
- Proceedings
- Field program documentation
- Contracts
- Founding documents
- Grants and research proposals
- Curriculum vitae, publication lists
- Documentation of instrument design, fabrication, operation and use
- Oral history tapes and transcriptions
- Photographs
- Audiovisual material
- Policy and procedure manuals
- Reports
- Speeches and lectures
- Press releases
- Divisional and institutional reports
